Cloud Worldwide: A Special Report
Earlier this year, International Data Corporation (IDC) released a report entitled "Worldwide Semiannual Public Cloud Services Spending Guide" that predicted that the worldwide cloud IT market will grow at six times the rate of overall IT spending, doubling in size by 2019 to an estimated US$141 billion. With this growth as a backdrop, our editorial team decided to highlight a series of Oracle Cloud customer stories we've published over the past year in a special issue of Profit magazine, which you can download here.

Featuring companies from Silicon Valley to Tokyo, from Nairobi to Abu Dhabi, this special issue of Profit demonstrates that the creative uses of enterprise cloud systems aren't limited by geography. The cloud is indeed everywhere. Looking at companies in industries from hospitality to construction to high-tech, the profiles demonstrate that the terms enterprise IT and cloud are becoming synonymous, that the barriers predicted to limit the growth of cloud computing are falling away, and that there is no market or industry that can't reap the benefits of the cloud.

Complexity: The Enemy from Within Most Organizations
Complexity is expensive—whether it's the cost of implementation, change, operations, or second-order effects such as crimped agility, all of which ultimately reduce profitability and productivity. We must relentlessly seek to make things as simple as possible, not just simpler. Companies that adopt single-vendor, "cloud first" strategies are in a position to do just that: keep their IT procurement processes and technology architectures as simple as possible. Learn more about how the cloud can fight complexity.

Four Reasons Independent Software Vendors Are Betting Their Businesses on Oracle Cloud
For independent software vendors (ISVs), growth or even survival hinges on selling and running their software by using a cloud-based model. That's true whether the ISV is a born-in-the-cloud startup or an established company that has been successfully selling mission-critical, on-premises solutions for decades. "The question in their mind is how they can do cloud, not if they will," says Dan Miller, Oracle senior vice president of Oracle's ISV and OEM business. "And every conversation we have with them is about enabling them to take advantage of the cloud in the market." Find out why.
