We are expected to upgrade to 8.55.11 soon. Wanted to find out what are the key issues / potential gotchas.

Also, i was reading about OSES is not used anymore and it will be "Elastic Search". How intuitive is it?

Thanks

Hello
8.55.x is a straight forward upgrade. It has rich fluid layout but you can toggle it back to Classic layout. We didn't see any major issues with this upgrade.

One major thing that my client likes is new search. Earlier they were using OSES and it was rather "messy" to set it up. It needs its onw database, middleware. With 8.55.x tools we now have ElasticSearch. It is very easy to install, setup and use. It is all based on RESTful parsing. Elastic Search uses Windows / Linux. No other OS is supported. We used Windows 10 server and it worked like a charm.

As usual make sure all necessary ports are open before attempting to make a connection.

Let us know if you need more inputs.

Thanks

We did install 8.55 tools. Install and upgrade process was very easy. They have lot of new tools, coding objects, Admin related options. We really like the look and feel. We are currently testing accessibility options. We are big on it and that was the main reason why we even considered going to 8.55. So far it looks promising and better than 8.53. Again, we know it will not fix all our issues.

Regarding ElasticSearch, it was easy to setup. Much easier than OSES. We had issues with ports, couple of minor tweaks to be done. Everything is available in Oracle Support.

We also enabled InterDomain Events. That worked perfectly and the users can subscribe to reports and notifications. We need new set of ports for this as well.

One thing for sure, Application Server machine is gong to be super busy.

Do we need multiple installs of ElasticSearch with multiple ports open.

We want to enable this for dev, test and prod.
