Pokémon and Enterprise Computing
The cloud touches us all—including, sometimes, through our kids. One very popular touchpoint is computer gaming, which exploded into relevance recently with the flash popularity of the smartphone-based game Pokémon Go. The game employs cloud-based geolocation technology and supports retail activity in the cloud. But the cloud lessons of Pokémon Go showcase an even more pervasive aspect of the cloud that will change how we think about enterprise IT.

The game points to the mobile platform as the single most important technology-delivery vehicle. For companies looking to jumpstart an ambitious mobile strategy, cloud computing makes sophisticated mobile applications and services—such as geolocation, for example—available quickly, easily, and cost-effectively. Also, Pokémon Go exemplifies the importance of intuitive interfaces in generating customer interest and interaction.
