Chris Murphy
Hands-on Cloud Learning
For Debra Lilley, the time is right to stop thinking about building something with a cloud development platform and start doing it. "The best way to learn something is to dig in and have a go," says Lilley, vice president at systems integration firm Certus Solutions. That "have a go" attitude prevailed for a group of Oracle ACE Directors who, like Lilley, joined a one-day OTN Developer Cloud Challenge in Amsterdam this summer. This article shares tips and opinions about Oracle Cloud Platform from five project teams that took part.

Lilley says that IT teams—especially enterprise IT shops—don't fully appreciate how much the cloud has accelerated the pace of software innovation, such as how quickly Oracle is adding new features and refinements to its cloud services, based on user feedback. "This continuous innovation really is there," she says. Although Lilley wants more APIs and built-in integrations with cloud services, "I said that a year ago, and it's a lot better now than it was then."
