Prepare for Mobile and Millennials
It's a common story in the era of digital business: new players pop up with better websites and apps that draw customers away from established businesses. In the global shipping and logistics business, all firms pass the same basic carrier information to their clients, but "the newcomers put it in a nicer package," says EMO Trans President and CEO Marco Rohrer.

But EMO Trans, in this business for more than 50 years, shows how established companies can fight back. The company turned to cloud-based infrastructure to create the modern, mobile interfaces it needs in order to complement its reputation for service. That is especially important as more millennials move into leadership roles at its customers. "This new group is deeply concerned with customer service, but they're also very focused on technology, especially mobility," Rohrer says. "Five years from now, most of our business will be done through mobility tools. We are preparing for that now."

But that's changing as companies start looking for more than just a one-off cloud app and large enterprises begin undertaking complex migrations. See what Daheb says those enterprise-scale, mission-critical legacy workloads require to run as a cloud service.

Discover what the lab is learning about voice assistants, wearables, the Internet of Things, and more to prepare for the future of work.
Three Key Integration Principles of the Cloud
Multiple cloud environments are the norm, and that means more integration. So how can business manage integrations so they are both agile and stable without overcomplicating IT? For one, keep the effort simple by looking for preintegrated, best-of-breed technology, says Oracle's Nicole Smayling. Discover two more principles to put in place.
