Five Ways to Transform Finance
The CEO of Irving Materials Inc., a growing ready-mix concrete producer, had a simple message for his finance team: close the books faster in order to "spend our time making the company better," says IMI's controller, Chad Kelley.

With that in mind, Kelley decided that the time was right to switch to Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud. One big reason was to avoid a lengthy on-premises upgrade cycle. But there were other reasons. Kelley's team had folded in about 10 acquisitions in five years, which meant wrestling with data from 240 reporting locations and three regional finance offices. Pulling reports from that morass of data sources was killing productivity. Now, financial statements that took four to six hours run in "a matter of minutes." In this article, Kelley shares five ways his team has transitioned corporate finance from bookkeeping to become an intelligent business strike force.

Get Bradford's advice on unlocking the potential of these applications—and why we shouldn't be afraid that machines will steal our jobs.
What Is the Other R in ERP?
ERP stands for enterprise resource planning, of course. But did you know there's a hidden R in there that stands for reporting? "Without accurate, trustworthy reports, even the best finance systems are useless," says Oracle's Steve Cox. What tools do you need now

Healthy Infrastructure
When looking at human capital management (HCM) systems, decision-makers at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center debated: was the cloud really best? The cloud won for its measurable benefits such as less in-house maintenance and less investment in on-premises hardware. Plus, Chief Financial Officer Chad A. Eckes believes that the cloud also increases agility, because it "eliminates the large upgrade projects and enables you to more easily adopt new features," he says.
