A Forced March to the Cloud
As with every major information technology movement, the transition to the cloud has its aggressive early movers and its reluctant followers. Oracle Senior Vice President Chuck Hollis argues that the stakes are too high to remain passive any longer.

More than a few executive teams, Hollis writes, are pushing their reluctant IT departments by segmenting their budgets into "cloud" and "non-cloud," setting long-term goals for how much will be cloud by certain dates, and then requiring their IT leaders to figure out how to get there. "Some will argue that setting a cloud quota is an overly blunt, ham-fisted approach to a complex problem," Hollis maintains. "Others will argue that the business has little choice but to forcibly march IT in the required direction. Both sides are right."
