Inspiration ≠ Innovation
As a writer and editor (and one of those tricky "creative" types), I tend to think of innovation as something elusive and near-magical. A marvelous breakthrough. An unexpected revelation. A discovery made by a secret team of like-minded misfits. But Jon Chorley, chief sustainability officer at Oracle, did a good job of disabusing me of my innovation-related fantasies.

In a recent interview with Profit magazine, Chorley noted that although innovative thinking can come from anywhere in the organization, managing the supply chain of ideas is essential to scaling up and moving fast. Which is why a cloud-based tool designed for that process is so necessary. "Given that there's a great deal of money and often the future of the company at stake, having a system such as Oracle Innovation Management to improve your 'return on innovation spend' should be a high priority," Chorley says.

Run a Factory on Cloud Apps? IQMS Says Yes
Mission-critical applications such as IQMS ERP, which companies use to run their factories, were once considered too risky to run on the cloud. But that's changed: IQMS now plans to offer its software running on Oracle Cloud Platform, as well as offer Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service alongside its own applications so companies can analyze data that IQMS collects on factory-floor machine performance. Learn three reasons IQMS decided to move to the cloud.

Learn why the island offers an ideal IoT test case.
