Now the cloud is getting interesting. Of course, it’s great that cloud helps you save money, deploy workloads faster, and spend less time managing systems, but that’s all well understood. “Now, customers are making requests for novel uses of the technology,” says Oracle President Thomas Kurian, in an interview with Profit magazine. For example, Oracle is working with an oil and gas exploration company that’s moving hundreds of terabytes of data to Oracle Cloud “as the foundation of their exploration and science algorithms,” Kurian says.
