First Movers Will Rule the Cloud Age
Upwards of US$100 billion of bank profits are at risk, the market caps of stodgy media companies keep bleeding, and once-iconic retailers are shells of their former selves. And still we debate whether companies should be "first movers" when it comes to tech adoption and business model innovation? Instead, let's call "fast followers" what they've become in today's digital economy: laggards.

Job #1 for all digital business leaders is laying an IT foundation that lets them innovate with speed and agility. Cloud computing provides the main building blocks—the software, platform, and infrastructure services that turbocharge the innovation cycle. It used to take years for big users of on-premises enterprise technology to acquire, customize, test, deploy, and train their people on the latest versions. Today that whole cycle can take only months in the cloud.

But the cloud is only one linchpin for gaining first-mover advantages. Learn more about what it takes from Oracle Senior VP Sonny Singh, VP Roland Smart, and other experts.

Wagamama Puts the Cloud on the Menu
Wagamama Puts the Cloud on the Menu
The Wagamama restaurant chain is known for its kitchen theatrics and canteen-style seating; its freshly cooked ramen, teppanyaki, and curry—and its cutting-edge technology. Now Wagamama is moving to a cloud-based point-of-sale system, Oracle Hospitality Simphony Cloud Service, to continue its innovation and expansion worldwide. "When we onboard new franchisees, we want to be able to give them the tools to do the job from day 1," CIO Richard Tallboy says. Learn how the cloud fits with Wagamama's kaizen culture of continuous improvement.
No More Guesswork
Marketing professionals have based decisions about customer experience design largely on their gut feeling. Oracle Maxymiser, a new addition to Oracle Marketing Cloud, now helps marketers objectively test and target every aspect of the web and mobile app experience. It's all about "listening to their customers and letting customers tell them what does and doesn't work best," says Tim Brown, group vice president of product development at Oracle.
Work Wherever You Are
With Oracle Mobile Cloud Service, employees can work anywhere. Just ask the sales reps at Industrial Farmacéutica Cantabria Group (IFC), one of Spain's leading developers and distributors of skin care products. Read how reps are using Oracle Mobile Cloud Service to—for example—create, modify, and delete records; place sales orders; and record their daily activities with mobile devices. And IFC did it with a small IT staff.

Pakistani Cement Plant
Pakistani Cement Firm Gets Greener and Leaner with Oracle Cloud
How does a cement plant become more environmentally responsible? In 2015 D.G. Khan Cement Company (DGK), based in Lahore, Pakistan, replaced its planning system with Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud to help it move to alternative fuels for its manufacturing process. It also no longer has to cool its own storage and servers for an on-premises system. There are economic benefits to moving to a cloud platform as well: cutting costs for hardware, warranties, and software licensing. Learn more about how Oracle ERP Cloud is helping marry economic needs with a more responsible environmental approach.
