We automated about 70% with a testing tool and kept the rest manual. Worth it.
Document everything. Future you will thank present you.
We did this last year. Biggest lesson: start data migration earlier than you think.
We tried the opposite and regretted it, so +1 to this.
Depends heavily on your customizations. Inventory them first, then decide.
