Our partner suggested the same approach and it worked well for us.
Watch out for security roles. They took longer than everything else combined.
Our rule: no customization without a named business owner.
Training was the difference for us. Short videos beat long manuals.
My client applies PUM once every 2 years. In the mean time is something is needed we pick and choose those specific bugs. That is working better for us
