SAP Unveils New Technology for German National Football Team Ahead of European Championship

SAP and the German National Football Team (DFB) unveiled new prototype technologies and enhancements to existing tools designed to help the team train and prepare for opponents and upcoming matches like never before during the European Championship.

Continuing a co-innovation partnership that began in 2013 and led up to the team's victory at Football World Championship in 2014, SAP helped DFB create a game plan for the Euro Cup, which included the development of two new prototype technologies exclusively for DFB and powered by the SAP HANA Cloud Platform: Read the complete article in the SAP News Center!

HCP - The big picture

SAP HANA Cloud Platform (HCP) is at the core of SAP's technology strategy - that much was plain to see for everyone again at SAPPHIRE NOW a few days ago. And while that is little news for the techies around given HCP was left, right and center in all SAP TechEd keynotes last year as well as in THE demo it's still note-worthy that these days even SAP's co-founder and chairman of the supervisory board, Prof. Hasso Plattner, spent plenty of time talking about it and exclusively featuring HCP-based demos in his keynote in Orlando!

Official beta release: SAP HANA Cloud Platform, starter edition for Cloud Foundry services

The SAP HANA Cloud Platform starter edition for Cloud Foundry services (beta) is now available. With the beta, you get a chance to get familiar with developing on a Cloud Foundry based architecture and learn how to use the tools and services on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. The starter edition will let you use the Cloud Foundry buildpacks and backing services such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, and Redis, among other features.

The road ahead with SAP HANA Cloud Platform and Cloud Foundry - SAP TechEd Strategy Talk of the week

By SAPPHIRENOW 2016 a lot of announcements were made. There was also a specific press release around the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. That announcement also included the availability of the beta for "SAP HANA Cloud Platform, starter edition for Cloud Foundry services".

Today we want to share with you some backgrounds behind that specific announcement and how it fits into SAP's strategy for the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

SAP HANA Cloud Platform at events in Sydney and Melbourne

It was a busy week in Australia with lot of events happening around SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

First we had the first SAP HANA Cloud Platform CodeJam in ANZ on May 18th 2016. We were fortunate to have the support from Emil Aleksandrov - SAP HANA Cloud Platform Product Manager who travelled all the way from Bulgaria. It was great to see about 20 participants gathering at one place to learn more about SAP HANA Cloud Platform (HCP). We kick started the day with an overview of the SAP's PaaS - SAP HANA Cloud Platform and the services which are available within SAP HANA Cloud Platform. On May 19th we hosted the first IoT focused workshop as part of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform Technical Academy. We had our local experts in IoT space (Malcolm Yeoman and Thorsten Freitag) and SAP HANA Cloud Platform expert Nash Gajic facilitate the workshop. We had about 10 participants representing customers and partners in Melbourne. All the participants were greeted with a pack which contained an ESP8266 microcontroller, Ultrasonic distance sensor, breadboard and few resistors and cables. Accelerate your SAP HANA Cloud Platform, portal service with public code samples on GitHub

To simplify and accelerate your SAP HANA Cloud Portal site development, we have published widget codes samples and site templates on GitHub. These accelerators can be used as-as, but more important, can be used as a reference for new developments.

Developing a sample AngularJS application on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform

The SAP HANA Cloud Platform is a development platform based on open standards. The platform provides developers with the flexibility to use frameworks/tools of their choice for application development. Let's take the case of developing the user interface. While SAP UI5 is SAP's recommended client side framework for developing business applications, HCP provides the flexibility of using any HTML5/JavaScript based framework like ReactJS, AngularJS, Bootstrap.

SAP API Business Hub launched: Discover, explore and test SAP APIs

Based on the design-winning SAP Fiori design, SAP API Business Hub is targeted at developers and partners that wish to connect to SAP systems using APIs - both cloud and on-prem. We want to make SAP API Business Hub the one-stop place for you to discover, explore and test SAP APIs. We have committed ourselves to publish the API documentation in the popular and widely-used OpenAPI format. And finally - for some APIs this is still a work in progress - we allow you to try out APIs in sandbox systems provided by us. This is a part of the ongoing effort to open up SAP and to connect more easily to SAP systems and applications.

 How to use SAP API Management on SAP HANA Cloud Platform Trial

SAP HANA Cloud Platform, Management Cloud Edition has been released since July 2015. With this, customers can manage, publish and analyze usage of their APIs exposed to their business partners and customers through a cloud-based infrastructure based on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. As part of the evolution of SAP HANA Cloud Platform, API Management Cloud Edition we also want to offer pre-defined content from SAP going forward. This site includes a first collection of APIs related to SAP HANA Cloud Platform (HCP) but will also include over time other APIs coming from cloud applications and other services offered by SAP. As a starting point - to showcase also the API consumer experience - we provide access to HCP Platform APIs and HCP Services APIs. With this, all SAP HCP Trial developers can discover and consume platform APIs through the SAP API Hub.

What's in it for developers?

As an application developer it gives you a glimpse on how the consumption experience of managed APIs will be like. You can discover and browse the provided APIs, subscribe to them and get access granted. Once subscription is done, the developer can use the obtained API key to use the API as per his requirements. As all of the APIs that we expose are also exposed directly from SAP HANA Cloud Platform, one can also see that SAP API Management allows to standardize API usage through one single environment. Enable your own API Management Portal and Developer Portal and start experiencing what the SAP HCP, API Management is all about.

 You Asked, We Delivered - New Service Added to SFCE Extended Demo Accounts

It's important to us at SAP to interact directly with our customers and to take your requests/feedback seriously. Over the past few months we have heard from various community members the desire to test the SAP HANA Cloud Platform OData Provisioning (HCP ODP) service against their SAP Fiori, cloud edition extended demo account, and a guided process to connect their SAP Fiori, cloud edition extended demo account to an on premise back end system. It brings me great joy to announce that not only have we heard your requests but we have been working behind the scenes and today are able to deliver both requests to you!

 SAP SuccessFactors Extensions on SAP HANA Cloud Platform - PowerWeek session in Brazil

Just a few days ago, From June 14th to 16th, the PowerWeek SuccessFactors Extension on HCP was delivered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 19 representatives from 11 LAC companies attended the event, which targeted Channel partners and Strategic SI's. Having the possibility to exercises hands-on directly to the platform, was regarded the most productive part by the participants.
